A long time ago, there was a family of ducks. The ducks never left the pond, because they were scared of Mullaka. But one day a duck went swimming down stream. The duck met Mullaka. Mullaka dragged the duck into his burrow. One day Mullaka went on a holiday; quickly the duck escaped. She went back to her family, made a nest and laid her eggs. The duck was very proud of her chicks. But instead of two legs it had four, fur instead of feathers, webs on their feet and very peculiar beaks. They could swim but not fly. All the other ducks laughed at the chick. So the duck and the chick went back to the burrow. So that was first PLATYPUS! An aboriginal myth retold by Belinda
